What My Calendars Tell Me About Different Dog Breeds

With so many different dog calendars in my office(yes, I am a dog lover), I decided to take a look at them to see if the calendars just portrayed dogs as being dogs or if each different calendar could tell me something about the breed its pictures depicted. So, I decided to pull out 5 different calendars about different breeds and see if I could come up with some distinct characteristics of each breed just from the pictures. The first calendar I pulled out was the Dogue De Bordeaux calendar. This is a rather large dog with a head that looks a lot like the Bull Mastiff. The general thought of larger dogs is that they are dangerous, but the Dogue De Bordeaux calendar showed something completely different. With several pictures of these gargantuan dogs cuddling with basically new born babies, I can say that this a most likely a very calm breed, one that is good to have if you have small children. Next, I took a look at the English Cocker Spaniel calendar. These are long haired dogs, and they can come in different colors ranging from black to white to brown. From what I get out of the pictures in the calendar, this is a fun loving dog that loves activity. However, these dogs also know how to relax! There were several pictures that depicted this dog laying on its and playing with toys like a cat would. I definitely learned a bit from the English Cocker Spaniel calendar. Next, let’s take a look at the English Setter calendar. I have a few of these calendars because I’m extremely partial to the English Setter. They really are a great breed. Most English Setters are white with black spots. However, you will occasionally come across a cream colored one.

The calendar depicted this breed doing everything from playing to relaxing to working out in the hunting fields. As a matter of fact, they hit the nail on the head as to why I love this breed so much. These dogs can be content doing just about anything and the English Setter calendar did a great job of portraying that through a set of beautiful pictures. Next, let’s take a look at the English Springer Spaniel (Euro) calendar. I put (Euro) in the name because there are different characteristics in the (Euro) Spaniels than in the (US) Spaniels. As far as the English Spring Spaniel (Euro) goes, the calendar showed a dog that really likes to lounge. I don’t know much about this dog other than what is depicted in the calendar, but, as far as the calendar goes, this is a great breed for those that want a nice, relaxed dog! Finally, because I mentioned this breed earlier, I figured I would take out my English Spring Spaniel (US) calendar to see what distinct difference I could find in the (US) breed and the (Euro) breed. The first thing that I noticed was that the (US) breed seemed to be much more active. There were several images that depicted this breed playing as opposed to lounging. There are a few pictures of this breed relaxing though, which insinuates that this is really a perfect breed for a family!
